LA Angels Bring In The Big Guns What Is Next For The New Big Spenders?

In case you did not get the news the Angels made 2 big moves, they signed ace CJ Wilson to be their number 3 or 4 starter, behind Jered Weaver and Dan Haren, with the possibility of being behind Ervin Santana. They also made big news by signing Albert Pujols! Now this creates a log jam at first, because they have Mark Trumbo, who finished second in rookie of the year voting, with his 29 homer's! They also have star Kendry Morales who missed last year with a broken leg. The good news is now they have plenty of pop, and depth. Trumbo will likely move to Left field or 3rd base. Morales is about 100% DH now. The thing is they have a bunch of other guys to play as well, in fact they had a jam last year trying to get Mike Trout in the games too. They have now to be outfielders, assuming no trades happen and trumbo plays left field, not third base: Vernon Wells a veteran center fielder who played left last year and could move back over. Torrie Hunter, veteran center fielder who will stay in right field his new home. Mark Trumbo star rookie who will play somewhere. Mike Trout the top prospect who really needs MLB playing time, or to be kept in the minors, wherever he can play everyday. Peter Bourjas, played center last year will likely be benched now, but is young and could get them another good pitcher or closer.  Bobby Abreu he can only DH now, could move to first but that is where this logjam started!
Below is what I think will happen to each of these players.

Vernon Wells; I think he goes back to center field and moves to left late in game but that I will talk more about in Bourjas's area.

Torrie Hunter; He will stay in right field that is where he needs to be.

Peter Bourjas; He will get benched but come in late in games to play center and move Wells to left and Trumbo leaves the game or maybe give Albert a break by moving to first, but that would happen once in a while.

Mark Trumbo; He will play left and leave games late in the previously mentioned defence change, and of course as I said move to first every now and then.

Bobby Abreu; he is traded or benched, he can't play the field any more, and DH is taken now so he will be trade bate, or bench warmer

Mike Trout; He will not get his chance to play as the Halos decide it is better to play him everyday(almost but of course with normal breaks like everybody else) instead of as a MLB backup.

What could this team do next? I know add a third baseman like A-Ram or Davis Wright. If they do anything else they will be favorites, they are but they do have weak areas.

Orioles Trade Targets

Each Offseason each team targets certain players, over the coming days I will look at them. about 1 every 1-2 days
   1) David Murphy: he is an outfielder for Texas Rangers, and is only used as a part-time player. He is likely available, and has strength's in all facets of the sport. An ordinary power threat hits 25 home runs, and the super threats hit 35+ normally, and average hitters hit about 10. Murphy can hit 15 or so, with a .270 average. He can steal 15 bases, witch is a bit above average, and he is an average defender. He would come very cheap and could be put in left field, and Orioles youngster Nolan Riemold could DH. He also fits as a former Ranger to add to the mass amuonts they already have, and could add to an already deep talent rich pool of outfilders the Orioles already have. This is a good target for the Orioles, and we will see if this player is in Orange any time soon.

I'm Tucker S. signing off, have a nice day folks

Orioles Fill Backup Catcher Void, Add to Collection of former Texas Rangers!

The Orioles and Texas Rangers have struck a deal! The Orioles finally have 2 catchers on their roster for the first time since former backup Craig Tatum was claimed on waivers by the Houston Astros earlier in the offseason. The Orioles sent minor league righty Randy Henry to the Rangers with a player to be named later(referred to as a PTBNL in the rest of article) for Catcher Taylor Teagarden. Teagarden is highly regarded for his glove, and he hits well when he plays. Over the last few years he was stuck behind many veteran catchers and was almost exclusively in the minor league's all season. He is was the third catcher on the 40-man roster for the Rangers so they could afford to trade him. This trade calms down the Orioles fan base who were looking at the free agent catchers and seeing the Orioles linked to veteran Jason Varitek, who really should not be trusted at his age to be the only catcher on a teams bench. Oriole fans also thought that they would be watching the Orioles talk to the likes of JR Towels, and Rob Johnson. Johnson led the league in past balls during the 2010 season, and he was a part time player witch means he was clearly not a guy the fans wanted on the roster, by any means. Towels has never players in the majors for any extended period of time, not even as a backup, while that rings true for Teagarden as well Teagarden though was a top prospect at points and has shown promise with glove and bat, something Towels lacked. Teagarden also was blocked by other catchers, so that is why he never got many extended looks in an MLB uniform, while the Astros were trying to get around using Towels. Really Teagarden is a good pickup, he is a guy who was in an organization with too much depth for him to play, while other two options were guys that were not in the majors because they had no skills worth it, and still were used out of need. The Orioles now have a backup for budding star Matt Wieters, and his backup has potential too and Wieters is only 24 years old, and Teagarden is only 28 years old. The Orioles gave up very little, a minor league reliever, and a PTBNL witch will be decided after the Rule 5 draft next Thursday, witch suggests it will be another non-40 man roster player like Henry was as well. Also in a corresponding move the Orioles had to make room for Teagarden on the 40-man roster witch was full, so lefty Pedro Viola was designated for assignment. Thanks for reading and come back for winter meeting coverage and more!
